KRA Extends Tax Filing Deadline 

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) extends the deadline for 2024 income tax returns to 5 July 2025. With this deadline those who file on time will get waive and full forgiveness on late fees. Earlier the date of filing is 1 July 2025, but due to heavy traffic and system issues on iTax Online Platform by 30th June 2025, the taxpayers were unable to file. So, the Government of Kenya with collaboration of KRA; the final tax filing date is extend.

Why is this Extension?

As we mention above due to technical glitches and overwhelming portal usage, KRA leveraged Section 89 (5a) (b) of the Tax Procedures Act to grant a four-day extension. The officials has also cleared that waive penalties for timely submissions is also offered.

  • Visit Kenya Tax Filing Portal or iTax Website i.e. https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal/.
  • Here go to Login Box, using your PIN and Password.
  • Choose the “Income Tax – Resident Individual” return.
  • Download the IT1 Excel Form.
  • Fill it in –
    • Include P9 details if employed (income and PAYE deductions).
    • Add other earnings (rent, business, investments).
    • Opt for a NIL return if you had no taxable income.
  • Validate and upload the form.
  • Pay any tax due via the generated slip (Mpesa Paybill 222222 or bank transfer).
  • Download your e-receipt for proof of filing.
